Building a community-based approach to digital citizenship and wellbeing is a gradual process. Collaboration between all aspects of our community is vital in recognising the challenges we are all facing with technology at home and in our community.

In order to create arenas in which to grow our collective knowledge and discuss some these challenges, the school will be holding regular workshops and seminars throughout the year. Please see below for a list of topics and dates. 

Early Adoption: What is it and how does it affect us all?

Date and time: Term 2B Date TBC

Target audience: All Primary Year groups

In this session we will be examining the effects of giving children access to certain technologies at an early age, how this affects them and the implications for the wider community.

Digital Wellbeing: How do screens affect our wellbeing?

Date and time: Term 3A Date TBC

Target Audience: Year 3 - 6 parents

There are many differing opinions and approaches to screen time at home. In this session we will look at why screens draw our attention so easily and how too much screen time can affect our wellbeing. Particularly focusing on our older children, we will start to consider how the positive and negative effects of online gaming and social media.

Target Audience: Nursery - Year 2 Parents

There are many differing opinions and approaches to screen time at home. In this session we will look at why screens draw our attention so easily and how too much screen time can affect our wellbeing. Particularly focusing on our younger children, we will consider advice from the World Health Organisation and discuss how expert advice on managing screen time has changed.

Target audience: Year 4-6 parents

In an ever-changing online world, it can be difficult to keep track of what our children should and shouldn't be accessing and what the potential dangers may be. This session will look at Social Media Influencers, online games and other trends to be aware of.
